Mark 10:29-30 (KJV)
29. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, 30. But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Just after John finished his university study, he got an offer with one of the choicest companies in his country. This offer came with a house, a car, a very fat salary and other attractive bonuses. John could become a millionaire in just a year, but they also told him that “he had to belong”. On the eve of resumption, he was invited to a party where a beautiful lady was presented to him as his office ‘wife’. He was expected to become intimate with her that night and subsequently. He became restless; he knew that accepting the offer was rejecting God, but the job was attractive and the lady was beautiful. He made up his mind to follow God, hence; he lost the job and was jobless for some time.
Sometimes, God allows His children to face trials, not because He takes pleasure in their suffering, but because it is sometimes required for their refining (See Isaiah 48:10). After the refining process comes the greater glory.
Go into today with these words in James 1:2-4 (ESV):
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”
Prayer: ask God for the grace to stand for Him and endure trials and persecution.
