Danielle lived in a city where peace was hanging by a thread. She didn’t understand why her city was this way, but she knew in her heart that demons liked it when there was bloodshed and terror in the city. One night as she was praying, the Lord opened her eyes to see how demons went from place to place in the city to manipulate people and cause them to become violent and hateful towards one another. She now understood that it was her responsibility to pray for the people in the city so that they would not yield to the manipulations of demons.
We saw yesterday that one of the most effective ways to pray for peace is to pray for people and their leaders because they are the ones who determine whether or not there would be peace in their land.
One reason we should not cease to pray for people everywhere is because war, violence and bloodshed hinder people with an opportunity to be saved, and many die without this opportunity. The devil is threatened by the preaching of the gospel, so he does everything he can to hinder the preaching of the gospel. It is difficult for the gospel to be preached when there is no peace (see 1 Tim 2:1-4, Zech 1:17).
Go into today remembering to pray for people and leaders everywhere so that there would be peace and the gospel of our Lord will be preached to many.
