SEASONED WITH FIRE

🔊Devotional Audio Link☞ http://bit.ly/audio1125

Mark 9:49-50 [NKJV]
“For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses it’s flavour, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”

The word ‘seasoned’ from the original texts means purified, tested, refined. Jesus teaches us here that everyone will go through this testing by fire at some point. The message Bible puts it this way “Everyone’s going through a refining fire sooner or later.” Everyone living on the earth will be tried at some point, but Jesus has promised to keep us if we keep His word. (Rev. 3:10).

The purpose of the fire is not to kill us, but to refine us. Fire purifies. God perfects His servants from the furnace of affliction (see Isaiah 48:10).

So, the question is, what will sustain us in the furnace? You see, God has made provisions for us to survive the furnace. Isaiah 43:1-2. God has called you by name, He has laid claims on you, and you belong to Him. He has given you His word, and our God can never lie. He won’t allow you to go through the fire alone; He promised to be with you. Dear Christian, whatever you are going through right now, I want you to know that Jesus is not just the fourth man in the fire, He went ahead of you into the furnace. You are not alone.

Go into today knowing that it is God’s word that will preserve you in the fiery trial. It is His presence that will keep you. He is bringing out the best in you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, give me the grace to praise you in the midst of my trials, amen.
