HOW DOES CHRIST SEE YOU?

🔊Devotional Audio Special Healing Prayer ☞ http://bit.ly/audio1130

Rev 2:8-9 [NET]
8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write the following:
"This is the solemn pronouncement of the one who is the first and the last, the one who was dead, but came to life: 9 'I know the distress you are suffering and your poverty (but you are rich). I also know the slander against you by those who call themselves Jews and really are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

As it was with many of the other churches that time, the church in Smyrna faced some very bitter opposition from Jews in that city. Many Jews believed that Christianity was a perversion of their faith. But the truth is that before God, anyone who believes and is baptized is now regarded as the real Jew(God's people).

From the letter to Smyrna, we can see that the opposition generated by the unbelieving Jews was orchestrated by Satan. Jesus called their Synagogue the synagogue of Satan. We can learn here from Jesus that real Jews (those to whom the blessing have been given) are not those who have the flesh and blood descent but those of spiritual descent (see Rom 2:28). The church is the spiritual Israel; the people of God on the earth.

Another thing we can learn here is that even though financially speaking, the Church at Smyrna may have appeared poor, they were rich in the sight of Christ. This means they commanded great spiritual authority and honor in heaven. And in the coming everlasting kingdom, these people would be really rich. Not everyone in the kingdom would be as great as them. It happened that everything they suffered for Christ translated to great eternal wealth and power for them.

Go into today remembering that what is most important in life is the way Jesus sees you; your state in the kingdom of God. Also remember that every promise of God to Israel applies to you if you believe in Christ Jesus.
