SUPERIOR RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH GRACE 2

Matt 5:20 [NET]
For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Dare wanted a cup with which to drink. He had two choices. The first cup was very clean and polished outside, but inside was very dirty. But the second cup did not look as clean outside, but inside was absolutely clean. The first cup was offensive to Dare, but he could use the second cup.

The righteousness of the law can only produce external appearances, it cannot go beyond that. But the righteousness by grace produces genuine righteousness from the heart.

The normal righteousness of a Christian exceeds the greatest righteousness of a law keeper. A person under the law may appear righteous outside, but he is rotten inside. While a regenerated believer in Christ may not appear as refined as the Pharisee appears outside, but he is genuinely righteous from within.

God purifies us from within. His plan is for you to walk in true righteousness because righteousness is very powerful. It is birthed by faith. The most powerful weapon you have in the realm of the spirit is faith (see Eph 6:16, 1 John 1:5). But raw faith is only potential spiritual energy. Faith reaches the fullness of its potential (and power) when it produces righteous acts of love.

Go into today knowing that any faith that does not produce grace for righteousness is not the true faith that was once and for all delivered to the saints (see Jude 1:3).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to help you walk in the fullness of His grace for your life.
