SUPERIOR RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH GRACE 1

Matt 5:20 [NET]
For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Segun was born again, but he still struggled with many sins. It got to a point that he decided to stop trying, but the righteous nature he had received wouldn’t let him continue in sin. His victory came when started to understand the power of God's grace. He started seizing this power by faith. He would confess who he was in Christ Jesus even when he didn’t feel that way. He did this until faith was stirred up in his heart. This faith produced grace that gave him perpetual victory.

When Jesus gave His disciples commandments for living (see Matthew 5-7), it appeared He was making the law more difficult than it already was. But He was teaching them the kingdom life, not the law. This life is propelled by grace, and is the standard for every Christian because Jesus also instructed His disciples to teach believers to obey everything He commanded them (see Matthew 28:20).

A person walking by grace will walk in a higher level of righteousness than a person trying to be righteous by observing certain laws. Yet the man under grace does not struggle, he only yields to the spirit of grace within Him and produces righteousness that no law can contend (that it what it means to walk in the spirit and bring forth the fruit of the spirit). The Grace life produces real righteousness that is superior to that of  the Life ruled by laws.

Go into today remembering that God’s plan is for you to be great in His kingdom. Jesus tells us that those who would be great in His kingdom are those who propagate His righteousness (see Mat 5:19).

Prayer: Ask the Lord to empower you and teach you to walk in His righteousness.
