PRIDE OF LIFE

1 John 2:16 [KJV]
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Pride is defined as a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction in one's achievements and possessions.

It is in man's fallen nature to ascribe his successes to his own ability and tend to look down on others. But God is clear on the issue of Pride as we can see in this scripture;

Jer 9:23 — 24
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.

God said we should only take pride in our knowledge of Him. If we know Him indeed and are intimate with Him, there won't be pride in us. That is one way the love of the Father in us pushes out pride. We also know that we are nothing or have nothing except what God gives us. That awareness keeps us humble.
The greatest advantage in being humble is that God lifts up the humble (James 4:6). Moses was called the meekest (being humble in God's sight) man on earth and God related with Him 'face to face'.
Go into today asking the Lord to help you walk in His nature of humility.

Prayer: Lord, I ask for more grace. Let Your love in me grow. Take pride away from my heart. Amen.
