OUR CHOICES AND GOD'S GLORY

Audio Version: http://bit.ly/29Q78fE

Joshua 7:19 [KJV]
And Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

Achan had taken an article in warfare against God's declared intention and, by his action, had made God angry. He had caused defeat to Israel in battle. This also led to the death of many. Eventually, God singled him out and his entire family for judgment (Jos 7:1-26).

Many times, we cannot control the consequences of our actions. What is within our control is our actions. Our actions come from the choices we make. Every man has been given the power of choice. We make choices from our interpretation of information available to us. Thus we can even forecast possible outcomes of our actions.

The time to decide is usually short so it is easier when we have made up our minds ahead regarding certain issues. For instance, Joseph and Daniel were faced with temptations and their positive responses showed they did not struggle with their choices.

The choices we make is always between right and wrong. Our standards of 'right' is from God. In the story of Achan, as Joshua urged Achan to 'give glory to God' and confess. Joshua already knew it was Achan but was laying a template for us to follow in all our decision making. Every time we choose God above evil, God gets glory. If Achan had used this template initially, he would have saved himself and others much sorrow.

Go into today determined to give God glory in all your choices. Amen.
