FORGIVE AS CHRIST FORGAVE

Audio Version with YBP Audio Bible: http://bit.ly/29Suc9N

Colossians 3:13 [KJV]
Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

It is a common saying even among some Christians that 'I can forgive, but I can't forget'. A casual look at that statement may appear true. One can be so hurt that it seems only time would wipe away the ill feeling. However, as true believers in Christ, our main scripture today has given us the target when we forgive- to forgive as Christ forgave us.

One reason why a person may struggle with forgiveness is that he or she does not fully understand how Christ forgave the believer. In other words, he or she has not even experienced Christ's forgiveness fully.

In the New Covenant, God promises to forgive and forget- total forgiveness. See it here;
' For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and THEIR SINS AND THEIR INIQUITIES WILL I REMEMBER NO MORE. In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. ' (Heb 8:12 — 13). What Christ did for us is more than forgiveness, it is remission. (Heb 10:17-18). Once a remission take place, there can be no other opportunity to be forgiven. That is why that scripture did not even say 'as Christ forgives us'. It says 'forgave'.

With this understanding, can you still afford to hold that grudge?

Pray for grace and deal with it once for all today.
