SEEKING GOD

Psalms 63:1-3
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. [KJV]

The reason for depression and inconsistencies in our joy and peace as Christians is because we are, many a time, trying to use God as a means to get our needs met, rather than making Him the core of our lives, the center of our joy and the desire of our hearts. Jesus Himself should be the greatest pursuit of our lives.

This was the continuous desire of David. He said in psalms 42:1 'as the hart panteth for the water brooks so panteth my soul after thee, O God'. Little wonder God called David a man after His heart.

God is the reward of being a Christian and not just the blessings He gives (see Gen 15:1 in KJV); for the reward of being in a relationship is the person you are in the relationship with and not what the person can give. Our walk with God is measured not by how much ‘blessings’ we have, but by how much of God’s presence we carry. God wants us to derive our happiness and joy from Him and not from the blessings He gives.

Go into today desiring to know God more. In His presence there is fullness of Joy and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore (Ps 116:11).

Prayer: Father, I ask for grace to desire and seek you daily. Help me to always know that you are the source of my joy, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
