In order to properly understand this Bible verse we would need to examine a verse in the previous chapter.
Romans 5:20 (NET) but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more.
Where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more? What does this mean?
The first time grace was mentioned in the Bible was in Genesis 6:8. Understanding the context in which it was mentioned will help us.

In Genesis 6, there was great corruption and wickedness on the earth. This was the product of sin, and it repented God that He created Humankind. The Lord said “I will wipe humankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth – everything from humankind to animals… ”

You must understand that when God says a thing, it has become law in the realms of creation. There was now a new order, humankind was to be destroyed on the earth because of iniquity. BUT Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

The reason why Noah and his household were spared was because of grace. We are all descendants of Noah. The reason why humankind keeps sinning and does not experience total destruction is because this grace keeps increasing to accommodate for the sins. Just think of grace for a moment as a quantitative measure, if Noah and his household needed five measures, how many measures do you think the entire human kind needs today?

So as sin increased, grace also had to be multiplied on the earth so as to keep humankind from destruction. This is the connection between sin and grace… to be continued.

Go into today remembering that the grace of God is the reason why you are still alive and born again.

Thank the Lord for making you a partaker of His grace. Not saved? http://bit.ly/1iTOmol
