Rom 8:3

For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh [NASB]

The law was weak because the law operated in the domain of the flesh; we keep laws by a decision of the mind, and our minds are too weak to overcome temptations. Whenever a Christian depends on His will power and mind to serve God, he has embarked on a fruitless journey. The only way we can truly walk righteously and please God is by depending on, and walking in the Spirit.

How then do we walk in the Spirit?

Walking in the spirit can only begin when we’ve lost confidence in the flesh; when we’ve come to a truthful realization that our will power cannot help us. We then depend on the Help of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to do the things we could not do by our power.

When the Holy Spirit helps, you will simply discover that you now have the power to do that thing you couldn’t do before, and if you are not careful, it is easy to fall for the trap of attributing this to your will power and strength all over again. This is one of biggest traps from the devil, because he knows that we receive grace to conquer Him by faith. When we begin to attribute our good works to anything apart from grace, we are applying to be relieved of God’s grace that has been helping us.

Go into today knowing to never attribute or credit your good works to anything but the grace of God. If just for 24 hours, the Holy Spirit withdraws the power He is supplying you to be righteous, you will be shocked at the depths of iniquity you will fall into.
