Galatians 3:3
How foolish can you be? After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? [NLT]

The Ultimate Wisdom is that which can secure one's eternity. We shall attempt to identify this wisdom, and expose the foolishness that can rob a Christian of making it to heaven in the end.

The parable of the Ten Virgins by the Lord Jesus in Mat. 25:1-13 identified foolishness as the reason five of the Virgins could not meet the Bridegroom. The Parable showed that these Foolish Five did not take along with them extra oil for their lamps. The Virgins are a type of Christians- people who are waiting for the coming of the Lord. The oil is a type of the Holy Spirit. We shall understand this better in Paul's letter to the Galatian Church.

In today’s Bible text, Apostle Paul stated how the Galatians started their Christian lives 'in the Spirit' but were now trying to become perfect by their human effort. Same can be said of the Five Foolish Virgins. They had the oil in the beginning, but by the end their oil ran out. They did not make provision for more. This is how it is with many Christians. As they progress in their Christian walk, they resort more to their own efforts rather than the Holy Spirit. The foolishness in this is apparent because, the life you now live is the life of God. Nothing in your humanity can attain or sustain it. Only God's Spirit can.

Go into today with a new understanding of the role of the Holy Spirit in redemption. Allow Him to live the life of God through you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill me anew with a deep understanding my dependence on You. Help me to trust in You alone and never in my own efforts. In Jesus' name. Amen.
