Luke 6:47-48
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. Many have come to Jesus, but those who will abide and be fruitful are those who hear His sayings and do His sayings that they hear.
I have observed that many Christians are not really listening to the words of Jesus. They listen to the words of the news more, listen to the words of the world and of their imaginations rather than the words of Christ. The surest way to hear the words of Christ is by reading the Bible and letting the Holy Spirit teach you. Also, every word you hear from the pulpit should help you understand the word of God that is written or help reveal it to you, nothing more. Any "revelation" that is not supported by scripture is not the word of God.
Go into today determined to develop your listening habit to the word of God. Mark out time for personal Bible study and prayer. Spend a lot of your free time listening to audio or video sermons, audio bible etc.
Prayer: Thank you father because I get to hear the words of Christ; the words that input eternal life. I pray you deliver me from everything that hinders this in my life, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
