Jonah 2:6

I sank to the foot of the mountains. I sank to the bottom, where bars held me forever. But you brought me back from the pit, O LORD, my God.

GW

There are certain circumstances that seem to redefine our usual upward and forward progress in life. This was Prophet Jonah’s plight when he was down in the depths of the sea. Notwithstanding the reason for the affliction and the seeming impossibility for deliverance, the Lord brought him out, as out of a grave. Why? Jonah prayed: "I called to the LORD in my distress, and He answered me. From the depths of my watery grave I cried for help, and you heard my cry ( see Jon 2:2).

Your present situation does not matter as much as your response to it. Whether you are wallowing in the mud because of your mistake (Ps 119:67), facing a setback or downfall perpetuated by wicked and unreasonable men or circumstances (Prov. 24:15, 16), or you are being persecuted for righteousness sake (1 Pet 4:16, 19), be quick to turn to the Lord in prayer. The Lord will be right there to show Himself strong on your behalf (see 2Chron 16:9).

Go into today determined to take all of your burdens, anxieties and distresses to the lord in prayer; believing and knowing that He is ever willing to take off you every yoke and to make light your burdens (see Matt 11:28)

Prayer: Father, I thank you that by grace I have a hearing with you. And in every situation, when I call, you give ear to my voice and a hand in the depths (Heb 4:16, 1Jn 5:15, 16). Please keep me in your peace, in Jesus name. Amen
