Matt 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The church is God’s weapon for advancing His kingdom on the earth.
The kingdom of darkness has set up defenses and hindrances against the church’s invasion such that they will still be able hold men captives blinding them from salvation. Jesus has told us beforehand that these gates (the gates of hell) shall not prevail against the church. Gates are mounted for defense and not attack.
Our advancing means that we are continuing in preaching the Gospel and baptizing in the name of the lord. We are to be light and salt in our generation. If God wants to change your country and deliver it from the gates of hell, He will do this through the church in your country etc.
The church of God is the agency through which God advances His kingdom and destroys the gates of Hell. These gates were put there because the kingdom of darkness is afraid of the church. It should never be the other way round.
Wherever you go today, remember that you are an agent of God’s kingdom dispelling the kingdom of darkness and establishing the kingdom of light; you do this by simply living according to God’s will for your life.
Prayer: thank you dear God for making me a citizen of your Kingdom. I pray that my salt will retain its saltness and my light will shine in my generation. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
