God’s power as basis for faith 2

Listen to Audio Version

1 Cor 2:4-5

And my language and my message were not set forth in persuasive (enticing and plausible) words of wisdom, but they were in demonstration of the [Holy] Spirit and power [e a proof by the Spirit and power of God, operating on me and stirring in the minds of my hearers the most holy emotions and thus persuading them],

5 So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men (human philosophy), but in the power of God.

This morning I was looking at two taps connected to the same pipe, I noticed (as expected) that when one tap was on the other became slower and vice-versa. I also noticed that the one closer to the water inlet had more priority over the one father away from the water inlet.

Even though this is not a very accurate illustration of the spirit and the flesh we need to know that the more power and control the flesh has over you the power your spirit has a child of God because they flesh and the spirit are constantly at way. When you walk in the spirit constantly you will discover that just like those taps the spirit becomes the first closer one to the inlet, you have more power there than in the flesh and vise-versa

The power of God is manifested most when we do not exert the power of man. Paul knew that if he was going to get the best of the power of God in His ministration then he would have to minimally use his pronounced skill in philosophy and oratory.

The bible says God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (see 2cor 12:9). This weakness is not through the flesh or a product of walking therein.

The reason why we fast in order to see more of God’s power in our lives is because when the flesh is weak then the spirit is more empowered to operate in power.

Is this saying you should not do your best within the domains of the mind? Absolutely not; God gave you your mental faculties in order for you to use them. You can only function accurately when you realize that there is the place for using the resources of the mind to understand the realities of the spirit realm, without this you will not grow.

Go into today knowing that even at your weakest point God will show His mighty strength
