Rom 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death.

When you were born into this world you were born with a law of sin and death that operated through (and because of) the flesh, that is the reason why you naturally sinned and no one had to teach you how to commit essential sins (like lying etc.). The law of life now operates in you through the Spirit of Christ(the Holy Spirit) that dwells in you because you are born again by believing in Christ Jesus and accepting Him into your life as your Lord and personal savior.
One of the attributes of the law of sin and death is that it causes you to sin and sin leads to death. This law dwells in your sinful flesh but when you are born again you have the ability to now walk in the spirit and not in the flesh.
Gal 5:16-18
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
