1 Peter
4:1-3
Therefore,
since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude,
because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. 2 As a result, he
does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather
for the will of God.
NIV
There is one
aspect of the attitude of Christ that is essential for every Christian to
observe and follow; Jesus Christ was ready to suffer physical pain in order to
fulfill divine purpose- He was ready to suffer in order to fulfill His destiny.
As a Christian, you should know that your spirit and spiritual life has more
priority than your flesh and physical life, and you should therefore be willing
to suffer to flesh for the interest of the spirit, when need be. A
quintessential example is fasting.
God wants
you to hate your physical life in comparison to your spiritual life in Him-This
is also the mind of Christ.
See:
Luke 14:26
If any man come to me, and hate not …his own
life also, he cannot be my disciple.
KJV
Prayer: Dear
Heavenly Father, I thank you Lord for the opportunity to be called your own and
to have the nature of Christ. I pray that this nature will be alive in me more
from this day forth in Jesus name, Amen.
