LOOKING UNTO JESUS

Heb 12:1-2

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
NKJV

In our bible text you are instructed to lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares you and run with endurance the race that is set before you.
What are weights: weights are things that slow you down as a child of God. They slow you on your path to spiritual progress. You know those weights and I know them. They are things that may not be sins in themselves but may ultimately lead to you committing sins. They are things you do that you know the Spirit of God within is not pleased when you do them, even though you have told yourself that it is not a sin. It could be anything as long as your heart is not right with it.
I must point out at this point that these things are always things that the flesh (the part of you that is not saved and can never be saved) enjoys and love. These things are things that the Spirit (the part of you that was literally born again) does not want.
It could be anger, talking too much, movies, over eating, some company, or whatever you know that you are not where you should be because of its presence in your life.
To be continued…

Prayer: Dear heavenly father, I thank you for your love and grace. I pray lord God that you help me identify and remove every weight in my life, in Jesus name. Amen
